Smart Map and Query Manager allow you to connect to any database as long as you have a valid connection string.  The Database Connections page allows you to add and edit your database connection strings. 

 

Use whatever connection string format your database requires whether SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, Oracle, etc.

You do not need to list your local DNN database string as this is the Default connection string in Query Manager, supplied by your web.config.

 

The connection strings that you enter into the Database Connections list will populate the Connection Strings drop down list in the Query Manager when you select "Other".
